Halloween Is Here

Boo! My favorite Holiday is Halloween. I think this has been said before, but it bears repeating!

Pumpkins, candy and costumes are in abundance. Choosing the perfect costume, making it and then dressing up your kiddos......there's nothin' better!

Tonight the spooks were out. We had a huge party in the retention basin in our neighborhood. Everybody comes for chili, hot dogs and treats! We have fun little booths for the kids.....tattoos, moon bounces and blow-up slides.....balloons, cupcakes, and a bean bag toss. The kids have a great time and we are able to see everyone dressed up! The great thing is that the adults dress up too and we all have a fun time together.

I made a huge effort to visit all my grandkids before Trick Or Treat time came around. I wanted to be sure to get a picture of all of them dressed up and ready for a fun night! Yes, I am trying to be a dutiful Nana. I do adore them all!

Riley.....Renaissance Beauty
Maddie.......A Fairy Princess

Miss Lucy....The cutest little Clown

Princess Sophie..Is she the sweetest?

Emma.....Quite the little Gypsy

Kate....I Dream of Genie...
She has the pose down!

Drewby.....just wants the candy!

Zack....Check out the hair!
He couldn't believe his good fortune...eating candy all night?

Kev's just chillin' with his friends

All the little spooks are full of candy, worn out and ready for bed. Just wanted to say how much I love my little grandkids! They are so sweet and special....they bring so much joy and happiness into my life! I love you all so much!

Now for some scary news! Lindsey is having a baby BOY!!
We are so excited.....Love ya Linds!

Halloween Happenings

Can I just say I LOVE Halloween!! Who know why it is my favorite Holiday. Maybe it is because the weather cools down and we can actually go outside and enjoy the weather, plant flowers, mow the lawn, breathe fresh air, wear jeans, and leave our windows open! We're all excited around here.

When my kids were young I decided that I would make all their Halloween costumes. It was fun for me to make a new costume for them every year. So now I have a "Stash" of Halloween costumes that have some pretty fun memories attached to them. The reason I mention this is I have now created two "Monsters".........meaning my girls. They have been busy, busy sewing costumes for their kids for Halloween. As the day approaches it is a mad rush to get all the costumes finished. Amy was making a clown costume for Zack and Lindsey was making two different Gypsy costumes for Emma and Kate. I think time ran out on little Drew........he will get to wear one of Kevin's costumes I made for him years ago. Hey! he's lucky!

Lindsey was a little desperate this weekend to finish her costumes early for "Trunk or Treat" this last Saturday.......sooooooo Mom pitched in. We had a "Late Night Sewing Frenzy!" My eyes were blurry by the time we finished. I will be voting for the costumes next year!!!!!

Sewing Up A Storm

We missed Julie, but her Dad was in town......we know you have your costumes done!! She is always on the ball with those four little girls. Can't wait to see them all dressed up! I am not sure what they have decided to dress up as........we will be surprised! Those little girls are the sweetest!

Actually, all the costumes turned out DARLING! Halloween is the funnest night of the year. Can't wait to see all the grandkids dressed up!

We had a little Halloween preview today......Halloween sugar cookies.....Yummmm they are my favorite. Everyone joined in and had a little taste!

Zack had the first bite!

Just A Little Quilt Talk

Another anticipated trip is over! I traveled to Utah to quilt with my mom and sisters. These are always so much fun. Linda, my younger sister, usually hosts the get-together with good food and good company. Linda and I chose the same quilt to work on. Mom, Cari and Kathy had other projects they were trying to finish. Here are a few little snippets and memories of a little quilt getaway!

The First Completed Square!

We chose to do a quilt from the fabric collection "Cotton Blossoms"

A trip to "Material Girls" is a must! It is absolutely my Fav!

Mom is an up-and-coming Quilter! She has caught the "Bug" and has made some darling quilts.

Out to Lunch with the Gals!

Well on my way....but way behind Linda...Hmmmm I can't seem to concentrate!

Time-out to visit with Kendall-Sue and the kiddos! Kneaders is the best for lunch!

Maddie in a quilt store??? Who would have thought? I know she loved it!

Oh Yeah....I forgot....It snowed!

Well here is a little sneak peak of the finished project. Not mine! But my sister's.....of course she finished! For some reason I love to prolong the agony of a finished quilt...in fact, I am know for it among my fellow quilters.....I may have to make some changes to make it my own! hmmm we'll see...........

Prairie Blossoms

Thanks to Linda and the rest of the Fam for a fun time together. I always look forward to these times together. We are gathering quite a little quilt collection.

General Conference Weekend...October 2008

General Conference weekend has to be one of my favorites. Twice a year we get to relax and listen to some pretty inspiring talks from the Prophet and General Authorities of the Church. This weekend was no different. Conference was inspiring and as usual it always gives me a lift. I love to listen to the General Authorities....I have my favorites. Elder Oakes, Holland and Bednar always have a little place in my heart. For some reason their talks always speak to me. We are really blessed to have a living Prophet to lead and guide us....helping us know the things that we should be doing. Our church is wonderful in that it encourages family togetherness and a love for our Savior.

Speaking of family.....our family is always together on Conference weekend. On Saturday night the girls get together with the kids and drum up some kind of food and activity. This weekend was no different. We had dinner and then I let the kids make shakes with their favorite mix-in! Yummmm it was tasty!

This is a great time of year for us because the weather has taken a turn. Ohhhh I can't tell you how great it is. There is a tiny hint of fall. Halloween decor is up, the lawn has been re-seeded (we plant winter lawn every year...it is a chore!) and flowers are perking up. The kids play outside and the nights are cool....Hmmmmm Arizona in the fall and winter is fabulous!

We have a bundle of little grandkids Wow,
when we get together it is loud, crazy, fun and challenging! Not to mention that we have two more on the way. I just love, love those little grandkids. They each have their own little personalities. When the Fam gets together the little girls always want to put on a little program....it consists of hmmmmmm, dancing and giggling.

On Sunday afternoon we all get together after the morning session of Conference for lunch and a visit. This year we tried Tortilla Soup and Julie's yummy cornbread! The best for this fall weather.

My four oldest little granddaughters are best, best friends. While afternoon Conference was on, they were on the back patio visiting and coloring. I snuck out and took some pictures. They all love to pose...with their Webkins, of course.

The cutest grandkids ever!

A little movie break in Nana's bed

After conference we had a little time to play, relax and visit. The newest thing is the jump rope. The girls love to take turns...Cinderella dressed in yellow, went upstairs to kiss a fella. Made a mistake and kissed a snake...how many doctors did it take??? Then came the contest..how many jumps without missing. We all had to count. Remember those jump rope rhymes? Those kiddos are a blast!

The little ones make their own fun

Just a little side note....Julie was slimed by Sophie. It was certainly camera-worthy. Nothing like a little spit-up for a little flavor. Sophie is famous for the spits.

What can be better than spending time with family? I love and adore my little family. My kids are wonderful parents, they married incredible spouses, they are outstanding examples and have strong testimonies. I am so proud of everything they do....I love you all!

Just a few little pictures......

Quilt Show A-Go-Go

A Quilt Show in Tucson you say??? My friends and I decided to go check it out! Much to our disappointment and dismay it was a flop!! After 30 minutes we were ready to leave. What do we do now??? After driving for a couple of hours we did not give up so easily. The phone and a car is all we needed. "Directory Assistance Please..." On to the quilt stores in Tucson.

There are a couple of really fun quilt stores in Tucson....."Bella Quilt Store" and "The Quilt Market". Of course I found my next project. A fun and easy quilt....maybe a cute gift for, hmmmmm, I don't know! Lucky for me it was an actual quilt kit so I can pick it up and buy it! How easy is that???? This quilt has some unusual colors. The picture may not do it justice.

The best thing about the trip was just getting away from the routine for a day, friends, lunch and quilts! We have so much fun!
